James (Jim) J. Monday/Montagano, Sr.

James (Jim) J. Monday/Montagano, Sr. 83, of Conneaut, passed away Sunday morning, October 19, 2025 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 18, 1942 and was adopted and cherished dearly by Margaret E. and Dominic A. Monday/Montagano of Conneaut, at the age of five.

James married Elizabeth (Betty) M. Frishkorn on February 16, 1963 and shared 62 years of marriage. He enjoyed two sons: James (Jim) & Tammy Monday/Montagano, Jr., and their daughter Claire, and John (Johnny) & Renee Montagano/Monday, and their son Timothy.

He learned the true value of family and work at a young age helping and watching his parents in their family businesses. As circumstances changed, he later worked at factories, and General Tire and Rubber Company for over 20 years, while also doing a great deal of construction and development work, and always having something else going on the side. When it closed, he went back to his roots and began multiple business endeavors, beginning with Top Performance Family Hair Care Centers in 1985. Through the years, he also enjoyed cars, off road vehicles, fishing, farming, and many other things with his family and friends. His work and hobbies weren’t just something he and his family did together, they were part of their lives. He truly centered his life on providing and caring for his family, and also having fun doing it. He put them and others first throughout his entire life. From the moment he was born, in many ways, he was forced to become the definition of a survivor throughout his life. He will be deeply missed, and our memories with him cherished by all of us.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth; sons James (Tammy) Jr. and John (Renee); grandchildren Claire and Timothy; and sister Ann (Rich) Ladow of Alabama

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of life will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 24, 2025 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 876 Grove St., Conneaut, OH.

Contributions may be made in James’s memory to Adoration Hospice, 2302 Metcalf Dr., Unit 24, Ashtabula, OH 44004. Envelopes will be available at the church and Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
