Jean Carlo Obituary

Jean Ann (Brennan)Carlo, 65, of Ashtabula passed away Saturday October 8, 2022 at her home with her family at her side, after a strong battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).  She was born December 14, 1956 in Conneaut, Ohio the daughter of Charles “Chub” and June (Goodenow) Brennan.

After graduating from Conneaut High School in 1975, Jean worked many jobs to support her family and met many friends she will always love and cherish.  Jean loved to decorate, and her favorite work was Owner and Operator of Morris Flowers.

On August 26, 2006 Jean married the love of her life, Richard (Rick) Carlo.  The met through AA where they both have twenty plus years of sobriety.   In January of 2017 Jean retired from Ashtabula County Department of Job and Family Services.  After retirement Rick and Jean spent winters in Florida until her health blocked her fun. 

Jean loved her children and family more than anything in the world.

Jean is survived by her mother, June Brennan; children, Lisa Butts of Ashtabula, and Laura (Billy) Burke of Lake City, FL; step-daughter Eva (Mark) Showalter of Ashtabula; siblings, Susan Goodwin, Joe (Jamie) Brennan, John (Sandy) Brennan, Mike (Michelle) Brennan all of Conneaut Janet (Jim) Meade of Jefferson;  grandchildren, John Michael Wojtowicz, Kelsie Blankenship, Alex Natto, Jordan Butts, Austin Phipps, Damion and Locklyn Burke and Harper Showalter. Special family in Florida, Stasia and Kingston Burke.  Jean is also survived by many aunts and uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Chub Brennan, husband, Rick Carlo, great- granddaughter, Sereniti Blankenship, In-Laws, Phil and Lois Carlo, niece, Stacey Altonen and very special friend, Ginger Belding.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7 PM Friday October 14, 2022 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland ALS Foundation, and the Hospice of the Western Reserve.  Envelopes will be available to the funeral home.
