Jean Sharp Obituary
Jean “Dick” R. Sharp of Conneaut passed away Monday January 2, 2023 at Carington Park. Born April 18, 1930 in Conneaut, he was the son of Walter “Red” and Laina (Rankinen) Sharp.
Dick served in the US Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean War before being honorably discharged.
He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad in 1988 as Brakemen after thirty-nine years of service.
Dick belonged Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and the Conneaut Eagles.
He enjoyed traveling to Memphis, Florida, Texas, New Orleans, Allegheny Mountain cabin with his longtime partner Darlene Dain, NASCAR, horse track racing, country music enthusiast, photography. Dick had Covered Bridge photos published in a calendar.
Survivors include his children, Dan, Dennis, and Jody Sharp all of Houston, Texas, Lisa Meier of NC, and Dick Meeker of Conneaut; grandchildren, Hannah, and Colin Meier, and Jarrod Sharp, Stephanie and Melissa Meeker; siblings, Shirley Bunnell, Peggy Valenti, and Robert Sharp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Judy Pataky, Betty Jane, Walter, Ronald, William, David Sharp.
No calling hours and services will be held.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
