Joan N. Barnett, 79, of Conneaut, passed away Thursday September 23, 2021 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home due to compromised health and complications related to Covid 19. The daughter of Bessie (Gotshall) & Robert C. Webb, she was born August 22, 1942 in Conneaut, and was a lifelong resident except for several years in Washington D.C. working for the U.S. government.
A 1960 graduate of Conneaut High School, she also worked at the Conneaut News Herald, Emco Wheaton Inc., and Zehrco Plastics, Inc retiring on disability in 2000. She was a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church, previously First United where she served many years as secretary to Administration Council. She was formerly an active member of Mother’s Achievement League. She volunteered and served as secretary at both the Conneaut Area Historical Society and the Conneaut Hospital Thrift Shop.
She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, thrift shopping and travel.
Survivors include her brother Clayton (Peggy) Webb and sister Linda (Robert) Sprague; daughter in law, Angie Barnett all of Conneaut; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Charles and a brother Dale.
Memorial service will be held 1:00PM Friday October 1, 2021 at the Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until time of service at the funeral home. The family asks that you please wear a mask at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Conneaut.
In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Conneaut Area Historical Society, New Leaf United Methodist Church or to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
