John Adams Obituary

John F. Adams, formerly of Kingsville, OH, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2022, at Sunrise of Cuyahoga Falls.  Eager to go home to be with his Lord, he slipped out six days before his 95th birthday.

He was born in Middleton, Connecticut on October 27, 1927, to Frances and Lillie (Silk) Adams. His early family life was difficult, but he intentionally forged a different path, choosing to value and encourage people and to treat them with dignity and respect.

At the age of 46 Dad came to personal faith in Jesus, trusting Him as Lord and Savior. He was an active member of The Federated Church in East Springfield, PA, where his faith was nurtured and where he served for many years.

He enjoyed working with his hands as a welder and mechanic until his retirement from Millenium. He built a house for his family and a huge outbuilding, where he worked on cars and repaired farm machinery for neighbors and friends. Acquiring another new tool brought a big smile to his face. (And Dad smiled a lot!)

Dad was a wonderful example of a man who was full of faith. He loved and encouraged people well, graciously accepting the difficulties of advanced age and receiving the help he needed with gratitude and humor.  He was a great dad. He taught his two sons many practical skills, always supporting them and encouraging their efforts. He taught, by example, how a husband should love his wife.  (What a gift!) He had a positive, creative spirit and a great sense of humor. He knew no strangers; he connected with people with ease and grace because he genuinely cared for them.  His interest in others overflowed into all areas of life – mentoring younger co-workers, teaching Sunday school with Mom, leading the seniors’ Bible study at church, and befriending anyone over a cup of coffee. He was a regular at Kay’s Place and Covered Bridge Pizza.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David Adams, his beloved wife of 59 years, Edi, and, two days before his own passing, by his sister, Ginny Padasak.

He is survived by his twin sons, Dan (Carol) of Cuyahoga Falls, and Denny (Pam) of Stow, by his six grandchildren, Jennifer (Russ) Tinkham, Kathleen (Jim) Malone, Emily (Chris) Noatch, Ben (Kate) Adams, Jon (Rebecca) Adams, Rachel (Jordan) Fairfax, and fifteen great-grandchildren. We have all been blessed by his life and his love for us.

We’d like to thank the staff at Sunrise, and at Traditions Health Hospice services, for their loving care for our Dad.  And endless thanks to Carol for her loving and careful attention to Dad’s medical needs for the past ten years.
