John F. Colver, Sr.

John F. Colver, Sr., 83 passed away November 15, 2021 in Crawford County, PA.  He was born March 29, 1938 in Conneaut, Ohio the son of John Q and Ruth (Blair) Colver. 

John was a 1957 graduate of Rowe High School.

He graduated from Westminster College with a bachelor's degree in physics and Penn State with a master’s degree in Engineering and graduated from Old Dominion University with an advance master's degree in physics.

John served in the US Navy retiring after twenty-two years of service. He served on the USS Enterprise and the USS Intrepid.

John retired on June 6, 2003 as a mechanical engineer from Newport News Shipbuilder after his retirement he went to work for Cope’s Vulcan in Fairview, PA.  He owned and operated Radio Shack in Conneaut.

He belonged to the Conneaut Historical Society, US Coast Guard Auxiliary where he was past commander, East Conneaut Wesleyan Church,  and the American Legion.

John was into family history heritage, farm equipment antiques and automobile antiques.

Survivors include his brother Willard (Jeanne) Colver; niece, Melody (James) Kimmel, nephew, Willard Scott (Danielle Felpo) Colver; cousins Herbert Colver; best friend, Mary Mosher; second cousin Diane (Roy) Thaler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Carol, second wife Gina; son John F. Colver, Jr. and his brother, Benjamin Colver; sister Lena Colver.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday April 27, 2022 at East Conneaut Cemetery with Rev Melody L. Kimmel officiating.

The arrangements have been entrusted to the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.
