John W. Hall, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and staff at the Villa at the Lake.
John was born August 20, 1938 in Conneaut, Ohio to Stanley B. and Marion (Kaihlanen) Hall. He attended Conneaut High School and loved to play cornet in the band. John joined DeMolay and later the Grand Lodge of Masons/Tri Valley Lodge #48 in Oneida, NY where he was a member for over 50 years.
John met the love of his life, Leona K. Nine, on January 1, 1956 and they married on August 21, 1956. John enlisted in the Navy that same year. After the Navy, John was employed by
IBM and then Coopers & Lybrand (Meritus).
John enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping with his children and grandchildren. He and Leona traveled around the world and especially liked to cruise. He was also a big fan of Disney World and all things Mickey Mouse.
John and Leona lived in many states and moved 14 times in their lives before settling back down in Conneaut for his final years.
John is survived by his wife of 67 years; and two daughters Susan (Harold) and Anita (Thomas); eight grandchildren, Harold III, Rebecca (Elijah), Jeffrey (Laura), Leah (Kevin), Brett, John III (Taylor), Mitchell (Amanda), Dylan (Caleigh), and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings - Stanley and Don Hall, and his son, John Hall II.
Memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday October 14, 2023 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.
In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or New Leaf United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
