John P. Hayes, 87, of Kingsville, passed away Wednesday evening, December 15, 2021, at UH Cleveland Medical Center. He was born July 15, 1934, in Conneaut, the son of George and Nell (Chapman) Hayes.
Mr. Hayes graduated from Conneaut High School and worked for the Astatic and retired from Linde Welding Wire/Esab Welding. After retirement, he worked for Greg Sweets as a driver.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Conneaut Moose Lodge, and the American Legion Cowle Post #151. John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his yearly fishing trips to Canada. He was very involved with Soap Box Derby Racing and loved watching his grandchildren play sports. Family was everything to him and he enjoyed spending time with all of them.
Survivors include his wife, Diana (Pirlo) Martin Hayes; his children Steve (Janet) Hayes of Winston Salem, NC, Pamela (Bill) Lewis of Jefferson, and Celina Luce of Conneaut; grandchildren Travis (Keri) Hayes, Joshua (Rachel) Lewis, Deanna (Chris) Wall, Christina Fortune, Jessica (Eric) Bailey, Tracy (Randy) Chase, Sandy Lewis, Savanah (George Ogeka) Luce, Cassandra (Brad) Pettite, and Richard (Kayla Sharp) Luce; and great-grandchildren Thayne, Cayson, Kelsey, Tavondre, Tess, Dylan, Hunter, Quinten, Cooper, Austin, Lucas, Grayson, Hollis, Addison, Sophia, Blake, Jade, Grayson, Conner, and Brooke.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia J. (Quinn) Hayes; his parents; his sisters Patricia Rood and Bette Fobes; and brother Thomas Hayes.
Funeral service will be 4:00 P.M., Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St, Conneaut, with Rev. Robert Goldenschuh of First Baptist Church officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service 4:00 P.M.
Masks are optional.
