John Johnson Obituary

John R. Johnson, 61, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021.

After high school graduation, John entered the United States Navy. He had worked for GreatWave Communications since 2014 as a switchman. John enjoyed being a part of a company that allowed him the opportunity to use all of his skill sets, from basic facility repairs to the fast paced world of fiber optic engineering.

John enjoyed traveling and having adventures with the love of his life of 37 years, Amy, and those adventures often led him to family. His grandbabies were his pride and joy; he was always beaming when surrounded by them.

John was strong and exceedingly athletic and enjoyed sports, particularly football and basketball. His favorite teams were The Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State and The Cleveland Cavaliers. He loved woodworking, building, online gaming, fishing, and taking his boat out on Lake Erie. John enjoyed attending the D-Day Conneaut reenactment and looked forward to it each year.

John was gentle, kind, dedicated, empathic, creative, and intelligent. He always had a listening ear and a shoulder to help hold you up. He always went above and beyond to help family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, acquaintances and strangers in any way he could. John was a dedicated husband, a loving father, a proud papa, a soft-hearted big brother, and a supportive uncle. John was always his happiest when surrounded by his family; his family was his everything.

Survivors include his wife Amy Johnson, of 37 years; his daughter Cassie (Kyle) Wade of Dayton, OH; his son Cory (Tiffany) Johnson of Fort Bragg, NC; his grandchildren Cylie and Creedence Wade of Dayton, OH, and Caison and Adelaide Johnson of Fort Bragg, NC; his mother Thelma Morris of Naselle, WA; his sisters Cheryl (Mark) Hellmer of Jefferson, OH, and Deborah (Jeff) Goss of Florence, SC; and his brothers Thomas (Kris) Johnson of Hanover, PA, and Kenneth (Heather) Johnson of Naselle, WA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kanawah Johnson and his stepfather Wallace Morris.

A celebration of life will be forthcoming in 2022.
