John T. Knowles

John T. Knowles, 79, of Conneaut, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in Cleveland at the David Simpson Hospice House. He was born December 18, 1939 in Machias, Maine, to Margerete Knowles.

John served in the United States Army, and was a very simple man who loved playing bingo at the Conneaut Optimist Club, Springfield VFW, Girard Legion, and Lakeshore Fire Hall in Lake City, PA. Besides his love for bingo he enjoyed supporting the New England Patriots and OHIO State football teams.

He is survived by three daughters Linda (Robert) Matney of Lincolnton, NC, Darla Knowles and Lisa (Roy) McCumber, Jr., both of Conneaut; 6 grandchildren JJ, Christopher, Zachary, Ava, Gabriel and Travis; and special cousins Gloria and Birchard Church who live in Maine.

Preceding John was his mother; maternal grandparents who helped raised him; and his wife Patricia in 2013.

A time to visit with John’s family will be Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St. Conneaut, OH 44030 who has charge of services.

A private burial will take place at Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
