John Kotnick Obituary

John P. Kotnick, 76, of Monroe, passed away Friday morning, September 21, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born June 4, 1942 in Ashtabula and was the son of John and Grace (Reed) Kotnick.

John graduated from Rowe High School in 1960. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy from 1960 to 1964. He worked for Olin Corporation prior to General Electric Conneaut Base Plant where he retired in 2002 after 29 years of service as a Maintenance Mechanic.

John attended the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene where he had served as an usher and very much enjoyed the Over 55 Group. He loved spending time with his family, taking bus trips, playing Yahtzee, and taking care of his prized Allis-Chalmers tractors. He loved going to tractor shows and county fairs.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Nancy (Cole) Kotnick, whom he married on June 4, 1966; daughters Kimberly (Azfar) Shamsi of Naperville, IL, and Tracy (Scott) Lillie of Columbus; beloved grandchildren Alexa and Megan Shamsi, and Gage and Jayden Lillie; in-laws Pauline Terrill of Pierpont, Robert Cole, Walter (Janet) Cole, Charlotte Loomis, Gary (Betty) Cole all of Conneaut and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Kotnick, his mother and father-in-law, Art and Josephine Cole, brother Ronald Kotnick, sisters-in-law Shirley Kotnick and Rachel Cole, brothers-in-law Alfred Terrill and Jim Loomis, and niece Donna Rogerson.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Pastor Titus Smith and Pastor Larry Carr officiating. Burial will follow in Kelloggsville Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 2-4PM and 6-8PM Monday, September 24, 2018 at the funeral home.

Contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
