John W. Plosila

John W. Plosila, 73, of Conneaut, passed away Monday evening, March 30, 2026 at UH Geauga Hospital. He was born July 4, 1952 in Conneaut, the son of Arthur and Virginia (Lesperance) Plosila.

John earned his master’s degree in education and administration, beginning his career as an English teacher before serving as principal at both Rowe Middle School and Conneaut High School.

He was a proud member of the Ohio University Marching 110, where he played the trombone and loved returning for band days. John was also active in the Conneaut Rotary Club, contributing to numerous community projects. He belonged to the 300 Club for old cars and enjoyed attending many car shows. An Eagle Scout and former Scout Master, he carried those values of service and leadership throughout his life.

John loved working with his hands—tinkering, building, and fixing anything he could. He built his own home and spent countless hours maintaining the apartments he owned. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes and potatoes. After retirement, he cherished the month he and his wife spent each year in Cocoa Beach.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Madeleine (Clough) Plosila; sons Matthew Plosila of South Dayton, NY, and Edward (Kaila) Plosila of Conneaut; grandson Leland; sister Susan (Robert) Wallace of Conneaut; and brother Walter (Laura) Plosila of Queenstown, MD.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles including Jacob and June Kesatie for whom he was a caregiver for.

Private graveside service will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Conneaut.
