Joseph Thomas Estock, Jr, 87, died peacefully at Ashtabula County Medical Center on March 3, 2023, after many health issues.
He was born May 13, 1935 in Erie, PA to Joseph Thomas Estock, Sr, and Ann Marie Lechefsky. Joe graduated from Edinboro High School in 1953 and enlisted in the Air Force on September 3, 1954. After serving for 4 years, he returned to Edinboro to marry Joy Fuller on August 23, 1958.
Taking advantage of the GI Bill, Joe attended Pennsylvania State University and California University of Pennsylvania earning a Bachelor’s degree and attended West Virginia University earning a Master’s degree both in Education. Joe took a position in 1961 at Conneaut High School teaching industrial arts. In 1966, Joe took a position at the GE base plant in Conneaut until 1982 and then worked at Webb Manufacturing in Conneaut. In 1986, at age 52, he decided to start his own company with his wife. In 1987, Joe and Joy incorporated Creative Millwork of Ohio in Ashtabula, Ohio. With Joy’s support, Joe and the company thrived.
Over the years, Joe was involved in the Knights of Columbus, Conneaut Band Boosters, the Conneaut School Board, and the Lake Erie Boat Club. He enjoyed playing the accordion, traveling to Florida, mowing the lawn, and adored his dog, Lucky.
Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, two daughters, a daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are his siblings, Richard Estock, Rita (Donald) Newell, and Barbara (Richard) Ryan, and two nephews Richard Estock and Thomas Estock all of Erie, PA.
Predeceasing him are his parents and son, Mark Estock.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 PM, Friday, March 10, 2023 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 1200 E. 21st St., Ashtabula, OH, with Father Raymond Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.]
Visitation will be held at the church Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at noon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League, Conneaut Music Boosters, or Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has been entrusted with arrangements.
