Judith “Judy” R. English, 86, of Conneaut, passed away Friday morning, June 26, 2026, at the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingsville, OH. She was born October 12, 1939 in Conneaut, the daughter of Harold and Ethel (Warner) Dickson.
Judy graduated as her class valedictorian from Rowe High School in 1957, and worked for her parents at Dickson Stop & Shop before later working in corporate operations for English Evaluations and Appraisal Services alongside her husband, Bob. In her younger years, she was a member of the Trailbusters Snowmobile Club, and later encouraged her family’s interest in winter activities with sledding down the “big hill” in her yard.
An avid reader, especially of mystery novels, Judy also took great pride in decorating her home with a carefully curated collection of items she purchased from QVC. Judy shared her love of music, especially artists Neil Diamond and Bob Seger, with family and friends. In the evenings, she tested her knowledge while watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, always eager to discuss the answer to Final Jeopardy with her son.
With a great appreciation for the natural world, Judy enjoyed birdwatching, feeding hummingbirds, and beautiful yellow and orange flowers. For more than twenty years, she looked forward to vacations in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where she enjoyed exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park with her husband and shopping at her favorite store, The Incredible Christmas Place.
Judy was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Guardians, having cheered for the team since its days as the Cleveland Indians. As a young girl, she enjoyed attending games with her father and proudly knew every player by name.
Most of all, Judy enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” English, whom she married March 9, 1968; son Gary (Pam) Oakes of Conneaut; granddaughter Rebekah (Ben) Ryer of Fairfax, VA; great-grandson Oliver Ryer of Fairfax, VA; brother-in-law Richard (Barb) English; and nephews Brian (Alisha), Jeff (Yvonne), and Kevin (Angela) English, all of East Springfield, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Judy’s family would like to offer profound thanks to the staff of the A-wing at the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and excellent care.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at East Conneaut Cemetery, Furnace Rd., Conneaut. In respect to Judy’s wishes, no calling hours will be held.
Contributions may be made in Judy’s memory to one’s charity of choice. Envelopes will be available at the service and the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
