Lawrence B. “Larry” Brammer, Jr., 74, of Conneaut, surrounded by his family, passed away Wednesday evening, November 7, 2018 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. He was born September 10, 1944 in Huntington, WV, and was the son of Lawrence and Virginia (Bryson) Brammer, Sr. Larry graduated from Edgewood High School and enlisted in the US Navy where he served in Vietnam. After his military career, he enrolled at Kent State Ashtabula, where he was the 1st student body president, and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Larry had multiple jobs, which included being a police officer while he was going to college, coroner’s investigator, teacher at Kent, and was a car salesman for 24 years, retiring from Mentor Mitsubishi. He enjoyed playing basketball during high school, and was named All County Basketball player. He loved riding his Harley’s, Lake Erie, jet skiing, wind-boarding, and watching all Cleveland sports. Larry was actively involved with NA and AA, and was a sponsor to many. He led many meetings and the local prison and at Highland Place Apartments. Survivors include his children Lisa Ray and Jason (Joann Hogle) Brammer; his grandchildren Connor Brammer, Jordyn Ray, and one on the way, baby Juliana Dufour, all of Conneaut; his ex-wife and caregiver Kathie McBride of Conneaut; and his sister Connie Clark of Huntington, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Shawndale Brammer; and his granddaughter Joyanna Dufour. Memorial service will be held 7:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Church of Christ, 448 W. Main Rd., Conneaut, with Tim Kraus officiating. There will be a NA and AA meeting to follow in honor of Larry. Contributions may be made to the Church of Christ or Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the church, and also at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has been entrusted with arrangements.
