Leonard Sikora Obituary

Leonard J. Sikora, 91, of Conneaut, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019. He was born January 7, 1928 in Dunkirk, New York, and was the son of John and Helen (Krzyzanawicz) Sikora.

Leonard was a Paratrooper for the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a conductor for the Nickel Plate Railroad. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the American Legion Cowle Post #151, the Springfield VFW, and was a life member of the Bellevue VFW. He was an avid supporter of the Ohio Lottery, and enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, working in the yard, reading the newspaper, and his daily trips to McDonalds to have coffee and see his friends.

Survivors include his daughter Gloria (Rich) Ferl of Conneaut, his sons Michael (Noriko) Sikora of Fayetteville, NC, David (Tina) Sikora of Conneaut, and Jeffrey Sikora of Youngstown; his grandchildren Tony (Wendy) Sikora, Christine (Andre) Bennett, Greg (Darcie) Gibbs, and Suzanne (Garry) Kirsch; great-grandchildren Brittany, Brooke, Joshua, LaKayla, Devin, Ryan, Kyle, Zachary, Mary Lyn, and Anthony; and great-great grandsons Jeremias and Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann (Bartlett) Sikora; his granddaughter Sharon Sikora; and his brother Donald Sikora.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, December 30, 2019 at Corpus Christi Parish/St. Mary’s Worship Site, 480 State St., Conneaut, with Father Philip Miller presiding. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Cowle Post #151.

Contributions may be made in Leonard’s name to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the church and also the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
