Margaret M. (Dewey) McGrody

Margaret M. McGrody, 93, of Conneaut, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born January 14, 1928, in Conneaut, the daughter of Frank and Hazel (Hill) Dewey.

Margaret graduated high school, attended beauty school, and had worked for General Electric as the payroll and benefits clerk, retiring in 1988. She was a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliary. While attending the former East Conneaut United Methodist Church, she was on the finance committee.

Margaret enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, knitting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son James J. “Jim” (Tammi Jury) Irish of Conneaut; grandchildren James R. Irish of Monroe Township, John Irish of Clarksburg, WV, and Emily Irish of Edinboro, PA; and great-grandson Liam Lawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Max McGrody; her sister Bernadine Childs; her half-brother Rockford Dewey; and her niece Sandra Folliett.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with Pastor Russ Ham of New Leaf United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
