Margo S. (Decker) Kaihlanen

Margo S. Kaihlanen 79, of Ashtabula, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Ashtabula County Nursing home on December 27, 2025. She was born March 3, 1946 in Bellevue, OH to Chester and Margaret (Kutting) Decker.

She graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1964 and once worked at Orlando’s Grocery Store in North Kingsville before focusing on bookkeeping at various car dealerships in the area and retired from Greg Sweet Ford in North Kingsville, OH where she had been for many years.

Margo was a member of the Our Lady of Peace Church and the Conneaut Boat Club.

She had a fun spirit and a gift to gab, enjoyed crocheting and boating on Lake Erie but her favorite thing in the world was being “Yaya” to her grandchildren. She loved attending their school functions and having them close to her.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Daniel Patriarco of North Kingsville, OH; a son Doug Kaihlanen of Haprersfield, OH; sister Marsha (John) Tandy of Fancy Gap, VA and grandchildren Grace and Luke Patriarco.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband George whom she married December 29, 1966; a son Dale Kaihlanen and her faithful dog Molly.

Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 PM Friday January 2, 2026 at the Marcy Funeral Home 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH 44030.                                 

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday January 3, 2026 at Our Lady of Peace, Mount Carmel Church with Father Francis Muriithi officiating.

Memorial Contributions in Margo’s name can be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306. Envelopes will be available at the funeral and the church.
