Marie Heinonen, 93 of Conneaut passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023, on her husband’s birthday, at Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Kingsville, OH. She was born February 22, 1930 in North Springfield, PA, the daughter of George and Dorothy (Kinney) Moyer.
Marie was a member of the former Lakeview United Methodist Church, where she was alter chairman in 1990, sang in the choir and was on the funeral committee. She was a current member of New Leaf United Methodist Church. Her church membership totaled over 72 years.
Marie was a mother of five boys, working at several restaurants throughout the years. She loved to dance in her younger years, cooking and canning. She loved to cook spaghetti, lasagna, and bake apple crunch. When she would bake and cook, she would always give some to her family and neighbors. She canned vegetables and fruits, canning up until 2021.
Marie also enjoyed having Christmas parties, going to the Albion Fair, sending cards, talking on the phone, and always knew what was going on in town.
Over the years, Marie and her husband Wallace enjoyed traveling to Florida, especially Vacation Village where they met many wonderful people from all over.
Survivors include her sons, Sonny (Linda) Heinonen of Conneaut, Daniel (Donna) Heinonen of Conneaut, Mark (Lisa) Heinonen of North Kingsville, and King (Missy) Heinonen of Conneaut; grandchildren Brian (Tracy) Heinonen of WI, Markus (Alayna) Heinonen of KY, Brett (Julie) Heinonen of AZ, Sandra (Tony) Sholtis of Ashtabula, Sara (Case) Kofka of AZ, Ali (Perry) Scheid of Madison, Blake (Erika Bradley) Heinonen of Cleveland, Jillian (Josh) Furmage of AZ, Erik (Hunter Silveus) Heinonen of OH, Darius (Alex) Rowan of WI, Ben Heinonen of OH, DaniLee (Tony) Heinonen of CA, and Kyle Dratwa of VA.
Also surviving are her great-grandchildren Cale, Chase, Landon, Colton, Penelope, Julianna, Josephine, Lylah Rose, Layci, Gabriel, Wesley, Samuel, Isaak, Camden, and Ayden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wallace, Sr. in 2009; son, Wayne; siblings, Georgia Moyer, Judy Moyer, Bonnie Moyer, Virginia Marcy, Mildred Wade, Robert Moyer, Charles Moyer and Frank Moyer; and her beloved black cat Keysa and black poodle Raggie.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, September 18, 2023 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St, Conneaut with Pastor Russ Ham and Pastor Jan Walsh officiating.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the funeral home.
