Former Conneaut resident, Mary Berfield, 100, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the Ventura Health and Rehabilitation Center in Boynton Beach, Florida. She was born on February 2, 1921, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of the late Valentin and Johana Marn.
She was proud of her Slovenian heritage and loved listening and dancing to the music. She graduated from Conneaut High School in 1939. Mary worked as a secretary/clerk at the Astatic company and at the P&C Dock company from which she retired in 1981. She was a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church. She excelled in her many special talents of crocheting (especially Christmas ornaments), knitting, sewing, quilting, basket weaving, embroidery, and won a First-Place ribbon for a crocheted wall hanging at the Albion Area Fair. For the last ten years Mary lived in Florida to be with family but always missed her hometown Conneaut.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ray Berfield in 2001; brothers Joseph Marn, Alex Milac, Frank Milac; and sister Jennie Palagyi.
She is survived by her devoted son Jack Berfield and his wife Gloria, and many nieces and nephews.
