Michael R. Laituri, 72, of Conneaut, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Hillcrest Hospital. He was born July 9, 1948 in Conneaut, the son of Raymond M. and Hazel J. (Kirkwood) Laituri.
Michael was a graduate of Conneaut High School and was Chief Engineer for the SS St. Marys Challenger working on the Great Lakes.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, and enjoyed smoking his pipe, tinkering with and cruising around in his classic Mercedes, remodeling his house from top to bottom, weekly pizza night and watching “Ohio” sports with his best friend. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and shopping sprees with his great-niece Izabell.
Survivors include his niece Stephanie (Jeff) Gill; great-niece Izabell Gill; brother-in-law John “Jack” Narhi, all of Conneaut; and close friends Tim Church of Conneaut, and Lisa Mikovich of Lake City, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Patricia A. Narhi in 2012.
Graveside service will be 1:00 PM, Monday, March 22, 2021 in East Conneaut Cemetery, Furnace Rd., Conneaut with Deacon Nancy Guthrie officiating.
Contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to the Conneaut Food Pantry, 327 Mill St., Conneaut, OH 44030. Envelopes will be available at the service and also at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
