Michele "Shelly" Fetters Obituary

Michele Ann (Hewitt) Fetters

July 24, 1963 - December 1, 2024

Michele, known by many as Shelly, was born in Ashtabula, Ohio to William (Bill) and Nancy Hewitt. She found a passion for sports early on in her adolescence that carried into her adulthood and shaped her life in many ways. Shelly was part of the graduating class of 1981 from Edgewood Senior High School and earned the Warriorette of the Year award. The co-ed softball league that she joined in 1988 was where she met the love of her life, David. She coached and played in volleyball leagues and coached her daughter’s softball teams. She made many of her lifelong friendships while taking part in sports organizations.

Shelly spent so much of her life dedicated to caring for others, during her career as a nurse and also in her personal life. She would take any opportunity to make sure that everyone in her life felt special, cared for and loved abundantly. To know her is to know how much joy she filled the room with, no matter where she went. She consistently had the most warm, welcoming smile and was always exchanging laughs with those around her. Spending time with her family and pets, traveling, sightseeing, attending sporting events and concerts, and being outdoors were some of her favorite things. Though, she would always say that her biggest joys in life were simply being a mother and a wife.

She had a unique ability never to neglect finding happiness in her routine, making time to enjoy the small things in her day-to-day. She would stop to admire the scent of fresh flowers. Hearing an old favorite song on the radio added a smile and a story for her to share. Finding a new recipe to cook or bake and share with others. Walking the beach on a summer day and spotting beach glass to collect with her daughter. The things in life that are truly priceless were never overlooked in her eyes. Her kind heart and endless love will carry on through those lives she touched.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, David Fetters; daughter, Taylor Fetters; parents, William and Nancy Hewitt; brother, Scott (Maria) Hewitt; sister, Kylee Hewitt; and her nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is preceded in joining the Lord by her son, David Scott Fetters; paternal and maternal grandparents; and beloved aunts and uncles.
