Nelma Nieminen Quinn, 97, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Ashtabula, OH, Erie, PA, and Delray Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Caraway Manor Assisted Living in Elkton, MD.
Nelma was born in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Niilo Hjalmer and Sofia (nee Hjerpe) the 7th of 8 children. She graduated from Harbor High School, Ashtabula, OH, and Married Jack C. Quinn of Conneaut. She worked in Army Camp Millard, Bucyrus, OH in 1944. She also worked for Erie Resistor Corporation in Sales Engineering and later in Real Estate Sales, she retired from the Erie County Board of Assistance in 1979, when she and her husband Jack relocated to Delray Beach, FL.
Nelma was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star Branch in Erie, PA. She loved gardening and traveling, but most important to her: “Family.”
Survivors include her loving daughters Susan Lett and Sharon Ryalls; her beloved grandchildren Daniel Lett, Kirstin Seator, Jeffrey Lett, and Katie Ryalls; her cherished great-grandchildren Lindsey, Lauren, Owen, Nathan Lett, and Lulu Elizabeth Seator. Numerous other family also survive: nieces, nephews, and family living in California, North Carolina, Kentucky, Iowa, Florida, and Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Jack C. Quinn; and siblings Milma Neiman, Albin Nieminen, Robert Nieminen, Taimi Jokilehto, Edwin Nieminen, Hellen Andres, and Elna Hindmarsh.
A post Pandemic Celebration of Life will be held in the Summer of 2021 for Family. The exact date is yet to be determined.
