Patricia M. (Covert) Berkowitz

Patricia M. Berkowitz, 99, of North Kingsville died Friday January 13, 2023 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio with her family at her side. Born August 7, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Layton and Marion (Harrington) Covert. 

Pat served in the Women’s Army Corps stuffing parachutes while stationed in Florida. She worked at Olson Bakery from 1964 until 1987, when she retired. After her retirement she went to work for Covered Bridge Pizza in North Kingsville from 1990 to 2002, where she made the dough with her friend Willie Bliss.

She enjoyed gardening, nature, reading on her Kindle, streaming shows, watching sports, especially her beloved Tiger Woods and Tom Brady. 

Survivors include her children: Richard Berkowitz (Mary Beth Greene), Lynn Berkowitz Patterson, John Berkowitz, Rebecca “Becky” Berkowitz (Ann-Catherine Sullivan) and; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren with 1 on the way. 

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, parents, husband Herbert Berkowitz, eldest son David Berkowitz, daughter-in-law Barbara Berkowitz, and grandson Garrett Greene. 

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Sunday February 12, 2023 from 1:00PM-3:00PM at the Ashtabula American Legion Post 103, 1890 W 19th St. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
