Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Patricia J. (Schaar) Haas, 86, passed away peacefully at her granddaughter Shannon’s home on Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by her family.
She was born April 4, 1939, in Akron, OH, the daughter of Raymond F. and Adda M. (Dixon) Schaar. She grew up in the North Hill area of Akron, OH.
Pat met the love of her life Marlin R. Haas Sr. while they were both taking ballroom dance lessons. They were married on April 20, 1957. She was civic-minded and known and respected by her family, friends and the local community.
Pat worked many places during her life. She worked for Automatic Venders in the mid 70’s and later owned and serviced her own bubble gum and nut machines. She worked in retail sales, local restaurants and for Eighmy Corporation in Conneaut as a Machine Operator for about 10 years. After Eighmy Corp closed and relocated, she worked at Orlando Bros Golden Dawn in Conneaut for many years.
Pat took the little hole in the wall concession stand at Conneaut Township Park and turned it into Pat’s Lakeside Grill, a gathering place for many Conneaut residents and out-of-town visitors while enjoying Lake Erie. Her menu included many fresh items and the best ice cream in town. Pat was a huge supporter of World War II, Normandy Beach re-enactment held in Conneaut each year. Her grill was a favorite for reenactors and public attendees alike. She ran Pat’s Lakeside Grill for 22 years where many local youths got a great summer job. She also helped her husband operate B & B Disposal by answering calls and handling billing.
Pat was active for many years in the Ashtabula County Republican Party and worked as a poll worker, enjoying the voters and her fellow volunteers. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts while her sons were active in scouting and was a band mother when her daughter was involved. She was active in Conneaut’s Lutheran Church, serving on the church alter guild, teaching bible school and running the kitchen. She loved to sew and made the churches baptismal clothes and other items, was active in several quilting groups and made beautiful intricate quilts and many other items for her family.
Her home was a place where neighborhood kids gathered on a daily basis, her homemade pizza was legendary.
Pat also loved traveling and attending auctions where she collected antique post cards and shared her husband’s love of paperweights.
Survivors include children Sandy (Ken) Piper, Marlin (Sharon) Haas Jr., Raymond (Kimberly) Haas; grandchildren: Jason (Angie) Haas, Ashley (Mike Schoonover) Ingramm, David (Bobbie Blankenship) Ingramm, Bryan (Kimmy) Ingramm, Brandy (Mike Warren) Haas, Shannon (Josh) Maxey, Joshua (Rachael) Haas, and Dakota (Ciara) Davis, Jamee Ayers, Zachary (Mikayla) Ayers and Nicole Albright; and twenty eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret (Rick) Hertle, Carol (Dick) Gostlin, sister-in-law Kimberly (Tony) Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marlin R Haas Sr (Bob), parents Raymond F. and Adda M (Dixon) Schaar, an infant son William Kenneth Haas, granddaughter Jaime Drew, great-grandchildren Noah Ingramm and Locke Maxey.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, January 26, 2026 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with burial following in East Conneaut Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the funeral home.
