Penny L (Blood) Mitchell

Penny L. Mitchell, 71, of Conneaut, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born December 2, 1951 in Conneaut, the daughter of Donald Blood and Florence (Bennett) Blood Loomis.

Penny was a registered nurse, having worked at Brown Memorial University, St. Vincent Hospital, and Millcreek Hospitals. She was a med-surgical nurse and then an OB nurse.

She was a member of East Conneaut United Methodist Church where she was past lay leader and choir director. She is a member of New Leaf United Methodist Church, singing in the church choir. She enjoyed baking cakes, playing cards, sewing, playing games on her iPad and coloring pictures, listening to Christian and Country music, and was also a member of the Sweet Adelines.

Survivors include her husband Alan Mitchell, whom she married October 17, 1970; her daughters JoAnn Machuga of North East, PA and Dawna Mitchell of Conneaut; granddaughter Lauren Machuga of North East, PA; sister Denise (John) Bowman of Columbus; brothers Rev. David (Lynda) Blood of Conneaut, and Allen (Peggy) Blood of Birmingham, AL; and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Dawn Annette in infancy.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut with Pastor Jan Walsh officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.
