Peter Kostyun, 94, of Debary, FL, passed away October 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born March 17, 1928 in Endicott, NY, the son of Frank and Mary (Sentelyk) Kostyun.
Peter enlisted into the United States Army at the age of 18 where he served as a duty soldier in WWII. He was presented the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupations Medal when he was stationed in Japan. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he went onto enjoy spending time in Las Vegas at the blackjack tables. He later settled in Florida where he took over ownership of George’s Tavern in Sanford, FL, that he owned and operated for over 50 years. His free time was often spent playing golf, watching sports, and spending time with his best friend Billy and friends telling stories over breakfast. Peter was a man of few words, yet quirky, and never sugar coated what he had to say.
Surviving family member include his son Terry and spouse Darla Weske of Conneaut, OH; grandchildren Troy and spouse Ivana Weske of Montana, Rex and spouse Jenn Oleson of Oviedo, FL, Mandy and spouse Eric Bretzel of Deltona, FL, and Latisha and spouse Dustin Shairrick of Deland, FL; and great grandchildren Jayde Shairrick of Deland, FL, and Liam Weske of Montana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Virginia “Ginny” Kostyun; and daughter Debbie and spouse Ed Hamann.
A private graveside service was held with military honors conducted by the American Legion Cowle Post #151 in East Springfield Cemetery, East Springfield, PA.
