Rene Dickson Obituary

Rene Dickson, age 76, of Conneaut, went to be with the Lord December 18, 2020.  She was born July 22, 1944 in Dover Foxcroft Maine to the late Herbert and Mary Libby (Grant).

She was married to David Dickson in 1962 where they began a beautiful marriage that stood the test of time through the joys and challenges of life.

Rene is survived by her husband David and two children: Todd Dickson, of Conneaut; and Kristina Tisdale (Shad), of Findlay as well as six grandchildren that she loved dearly: Matthew and Bailey Dickson (and their mother Cindy), Mason Dickson (and his mother Heather); and Danielle, Elizabeth and Charlotte Tisdale. She is also survived by her brother Herbert Libby of Bristol, CT, and sister Sandra Beeler of Terryville, CT. Rene also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

Rene was a loving mother who was her children’s biggest cheerleader, always supporting their hopes and dreams. She especially loved her role as Nana, cherishing time with her grandchildren, and helping to raise one of her grandsons. Rene loved to love on people. She enjoyed getting to know everyone she met and could start a meaningful conversation with a stranger, making them feel heard and showing them that they mattered. Rene valued spending time with family and friends, connecting with others brought her great joy. It was no surprise that serving others was a natural choice for a career. She enjoyed many years as a caregiver in a facility for the disabled. She cared for everyone there as if they were family because to her they were. She also had a love for animals that started as a child and lasted her whole life through. Many of Rene’s fondest memories were on the back of a horse and there was rarely a time in her life when she didn’t own a dog or two. All of this love and compassion for people and animals came directly out of her love for God. She relied on God in both good times and bad. She was active in the life of the church at Conneaut Church of God, helping run various ministries. Her relationship with the Lord was a top priority in her life and she shared the Good News of Jesus resurrection with many. It is in this relationship that her loved ones can take comfort, knowing she is in her eternal home with Jesus.

Due to Covid-19 a celebration of her life will be held at a future date.

The arrangements have been entrusted to the Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030
