Richard A. Eaton, 79, of Conneaut passed away Monday November 20, 2023 at UH Conneaut Medical Center. Born October 2, 1944 in Conneaut, Ohio, he was the son of Ralph and Emma (Rindo) Eaton.
Richard was a lifetime resident of Conneaut. He was drafted into the service in 1965 and served 18 months in military intelligence for the US Army in Vietnam. He returned to Conneaut meeting the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Louise. He retired from Millennium Chemical plant (INEOS) with over 30 years of service and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Richard was a family first father and grandfather. He took every opportunity to attend and cheer on each activity they participated in. A classic car enthusiast, he would reminisce to anyone who listened about his 58 Olds Convertible. Summers would find him driving his 1972 Triumph Spitfire to the local car shows in Township Park, enjoying the annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, and attending car shows with friends. He most recently was cruising behind the steering wheel in his 1961 Olds Starfire Convertible.
Richard would frequent all the local diners where they knew him by name and what day of the week he would visit for his favorite daily special. His ‘Good Morning’ song to coworkers, nurses, friends, and family, sung completely off-key, gave many a chuckle and smile as did his collection of themed t-shirts. He loved the home he built and took pride in maintaining his yard. When not working in his yard you would find him walking his dog, Rosie, and chatting with neighbors or commiserating about the Browns.
Survivors include his children, Mary Lou (Curt) Cramer, Kim Coxon and JR Eaton; grandchildren, Joe and Sarah Coxon and special loved ones Joslin and Billy Seeds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Louise, and his siblings Judy and Jerry.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. Deacon Nicholas Iarocci will officiate a funeral service there at 1:00 PM followed by military honors to be conducted by American Legion Cowle Post #151, Conneaut.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to UH Conneaut Seidman Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
