Richard H. Ferl

Richard H. Ferl, Sr., 85, of Conneaut, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He was born October 13, 1938 in Conneaut, the son of Henry and Gertrude (Smith) Ferl.

Richard graduated from Conneaut High School and enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1956 until 1959. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Conneaut and began working for C.E.I. as an Engineer Supervisor, retiring August 1, 1993.

He was a member of the Federated Church in West Springfield, PA, the Lifetime member of the Conneaut Moose 472, Conneaut Eagles #408, Lifetime member of American Legion Cowle Post 151, and Lifetime member of the VFW Post #4965 in Springfield, PA. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling, where he won the 1976 State Bowling Tournament for the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Gloria (Sikora) Ferl; daughters Karen Schnars of Conneaut, Kelly (David) Caruana of Albion, PA, Suzanna  Ferl of Monroe Twp.; his son Richard “Rick” (Tiffany) Ferl, Jr. of Monroe Twp; stepchildren, Suzanne (Garry) Reichert of Melbourne, FL., and Greg (Darcie) Gibbs of Kingsville; his brother George (Pat) Ferl of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, William, Bo, Shelly, Johnathon, Michael, Riley, Mitchell, Nicholas, Ryan, Renae, Ryan, Kyle, Zachary, Mary Lynn, and Anthony; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and distant relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Gertrude R. (Weaver) Ferl; and his daughter Shelly K. Ferl, and a sister, Susan Lawson.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday January 26, 2024 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.

A private family burial will be held in East Conneaut Cemetery.
