Richard (Dick) E. Gifford, age 62, of Conneaut passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. He was born in Conneaut on January 7, 1961; the son of Robert and Boneita (McCluskey) Gifford.
Dick was a 1979 graduate of Conneaut High School and attended Lincoln Electric Welding School. He was an accomplished welder; and owned and operated Adfab Welding, Inc. for many years.
Anyone that knew him, knew that Dick’s passion has always been motorcycles, or anything with a motor. One of his greatest joys for many years was traveling the country with his son, Bobby, watching him race ATV’s. He also loved taking Bobby and his friends on numerous trips to ride their 4-wheelers. His happy place was “in the wind” where he enjoyed countless hours riding with his wife, Nancy dancing on his back. Fearless, free, and safe to ride with one hand on her leg, and the other in the wind.
Dick was an avid sports enthusiast and a die-hard Browns, Indians, and Cavs fan. But what he loved most about sports was the many years he coached Bobby’s baseball teams; and most recently, cheering on his granddaughters, Lexie and Maci at their soccer and softball games. He was proud of their talent, especially dancing. He will be watching over them as they continue to dance their hearts out for “Papa Dick.”.
He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to so many of his and Bobby’s friends throughout the years.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Evans) Gifford, his son Bobby (Darlene) Gifford; stepchildren, Emily Henson, Olivia (Aaron) Carlson, Jasmine (Tyler) Dickey; grandchildren, Lexie, Maci, Aiden, Jackson, Milo, Warner, and Maeve; sisters-in-law, Victoria Sharp, and Karen Gifford; brothers-in-law Theodore (Debbie) Evans, Anthony (Krissi) Evans and former wife, Robyn Gifford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rick Gifford in 2021, and sister, Patty Gifford in 2022, brother-in-law Mike Evans, and his beloved boxers, Rocky and Jake.
Graveside services for family and close friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Glenwood Cemetery, W. Main Road, Conneaut, OH.
As a tribute to Dick’s love of being “in the wind,” the family welcomes anyone attending the service to ride in on motorcycles.
