Robert S. Babka

Sgt. Robert S. Babka, 88, of Pierpont, OH., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Metro Health Medical Center. Bob was born August 8, 1931 to Stephen and Stella (Hurt) Babka in Cleveland, Ohio.

He served in the United States Marine Corps. during the Korean War, and was promoted to Sergeant in 1954 before being honorably discharged. Sgt. Babka loved his country and was proud to have served.

Sgt. Babka was a faithful member of South Ridge Baptist church and was involved in all aspects of the church’s activities, everything from being head usher to assisting in social gatherings. He had a deep faith and love of Christ.

Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia (Warner) Babka whom he married January 8, 2011; two children Missie Lee Chaney of Cross, South Carolina and Thomas (Christy) Robinson, Jr. of Richmond, KY; nephew James H. (Sue) Babka Jr; brother and sister in Christ Jerry and Joan Warner; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and Pastor and dear friends Dr. Rev. Roger and Mottrie Hogle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife S. Lorene Babka in 2007; and three brothers James H. Sr., and Richard.

A Private family gathering has been scheduled.

A public graveside service will be 3:30 PM, Saturday, May 30, 2020 at South Ridge Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Roger Hogle presiding. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Cowle Post 151.

It is recommended that all who plan to attend the graveside service to park at the church and walk to the cemetery.

Due to the current Covid-19 Epidemic, there will be a memorial service scheduled later this summer when possible.
