Robert "Bob" B. Hicks

Robert “Bob” B. Hicks, 82, of Conneaut, formerly of Ashland, NH, passed away May 1, 2026 at UH Geauga Hospital. He was born June 26, 1943 in Chelsea, MA, the son of Howard and Theresa (Porter) Hicks.

Bob was a hard worker who always kept busy with different jobs over the years but most recently retired as the Ashland County building inspector in New Hampshire. He was a man of Christ and devote believer in the Bible and was a pastor of Christian Evangelistic Ministries at one time.

Bob had a passion for building, having constructed three of his family’s homes, and took pride in maintaining his yard. He was also a professional photographer with an eye for great pictures.

As the patriarch of his family, Bob was a strong and compassionate man who will be deeply missed. He valued tradition, and cherished family dinners—especially enjoying the meals prepared by his daughters-in-law.

Since 1980, Bob and his family made trips to Conneaut for family reunions, always looking forward to the day he could retire and settle there. In 2019, he and the love of his life, Claire, made that long-held dream a reality.

Survivors include his wife Claire (McDaniel) Hicks, whom he married May 30, 1963; daughter Michelle (Mike) Allen, of Laconia, NH; son Chris (Paula) Hicks Sr. of Conneaut; grandchildren Chris Hicks Jr., Andy Hicks, Tanya Hicks, Samantha Hicks, Aaron Desmond, and Morgan Desmond; and great-grandchildren Kacey Claire, Haven, and Nova Hicks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Malcomb Larken; daughter Suzannah Desmond; brothers George, Leslie, John, William and Charley Hicks; and sisters Nathley Kibley, Eleanor Hurley, and Ruth Bachelor.

Private family graveside service will be held in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township, OH.
