Ronald "Jake" F. Smith

Ronald F. “Jake” Smith, 86, of Conneaut, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at the Kremer Home in Conneaut, He was born May 11, 1936 in Conneaut, the son of Reginald and Isla (Fuller) Smith.

Ronald worked for Spartech Polycom Inc. as a lab supervisor. During his high school years, he ran track and excelled in all sports. He loved to gamble and enjoyed bowling and playing golf. Most of all he loved spending every Sundays watching NASCAR, football and baseball especially the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians with his grandson David. He wintered in Overton and Mesquite Nevada and enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren camping at Blue Bell and going to Geauga Lake. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #472.

Survivors include his daughter Donna Wale; sister Nancy (Douglas) Batchelor of Conneaut; his half-brother Reggie Smith, stepbrother Larry Howard; grandchildren David (Michelle) Lewis, Amber Lewis, Donald (Stephanie) Lewis, Kristyn (Jason) Smith-Garstka, Cassidy Smith, and Cody Smith; numerous great-grandchildren; niece Wendy (Brian) DuBey; and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Donald “Dutch” Smith; and niece Tracy Walker.

Ronald’s family is extremely thankful to the Kremer Home for their years of care and to Hospice of the Western Reserve.

Chapel service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Rt. 20, North Kingsville, with Pastor Carson Robson of Conneaut Church of God officiating.

Contributions may be made to his family, C/O Marcy Funeral Home. Envelopes will be available at the service and also at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has charge of arrangements.
