Ruth H. (Hitchcock) Spencer

Ruth Spencer, 88 of Richmond Twp., Ohio was called home by the Lord on Saturday October 7, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

Ruthie was born and raised in Richmond by her parents Andrew and Margaret Hitchcock.  She attended Richmond United Methodist Church her entire life.  First through eighth grade she went to Richmond School.  Nine through Twelve grade at Pymatuning Valley High School.  Ruth graduated as a beautician from Youngstown, Ohio.  She enjoyed giving family and friends a haircut, style, perm, and color.

Ruthie married the love of her life, Bob (Robert) Spencer, a dairy farmer like her dad.  They loved and raised four children on their dairy farm.  Ruth a was devoted wife and mom.

Ruth volunteered for fifty years with the ladies Aide group at her church, along with vacation bible school, PTA Mom, 4-H and kids sporting events.  Mom loved to cook and bake daily.  She enjoyed singing Christian Hymns, songs, and Elvis’s songs. She was a gardener, bird watcher, and dog whisperer.

Ruth is survived by her children, who will really miss their Dear Mom! Robert, Cindy and Larry will really miss their dear mom, along with all her grandchildren.  Ruth absolutely loved being a grandma to all four of her grandchildren: Jennifer Spencer of Ohio, Robbi Rowe of California, Remington Redetzke of South Dakota, and Gunnar Spencer of Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Gordon Hitchcock, Doris Mae Root, Marjorie Brown and Martin Hitchcock and husband Robert Spencer, daughter Carissa Spencer.

A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 PM Noon Thursday October 19, 2023 at Leon United Methodist Church, 3599 Stanhope Kelloggsville Rd., Dorset, Ohio, with a luncheon to follow.

Contributions may be made to the church.
