Sally Smith, 93 of Conneaut, passed away April 7, 2022 at Ashtabula County Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Kingsville, Ohio. She was born May 7, 1928 in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of George and Marie (Johnson) Hammel.
She graduated from Riverside High School and attended the Iowa Wesleyan College and the University of Arizona.
Prior to her retirement she owned and operated Conneaut Mechanical Supply with her husband.
Sally was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family was her life, attending as many family events as possible, (sports, school, family reunions). She will be missed by many friends and her family.
She was always there for everyone. Sally loved to read and travel and live life to the fullest.
Sally belonged to the former First United Methodist Church, now know as New Leaf United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Kathy (Tim) Essig, Don (Maggie) Smith and Sally (Mike) Kennedy; proud grandmother of Becky (Tim) Diana, Jim (Jessica) Kennedy, Laura (Mike) Jaissle, Heather (Dave) Jenkins, Andrea (Dan) Ozello, Kelly (Jay) Montgomery, Caroline (Tyler) Eckenrod, Colleen (Josh) Stewart; sister, Judy (Woody) Evans; great grandma, Alex and Addison Kennedy, Patrick, Andrew and Caroline Diana, Mikayla, Lily and Molly Jaissle, Dakota, Mayah, and Aiyanna Jenkins, Macie Ozello, Owen, Clara and Porter Montgomery, Abbie, Cullen and Madeline Eckenrod, Hannah, Hadley and Ivey Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of sixty-five years Don Smith whom she married September 2, 1949; sister Leila Warfield and brother George Hammel.

Memorial service will be held Friday May 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut where the family will receive from 10:00 Am until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in East Conneaut Cemetery.
