Shirley I Shumake

Shirley I.  Shumake, 93, of Conneaut passed away December 12, 2021, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. Born March 10, 1928, in East Conneaut, Ohio, she was the daughter of A. Jay and Ruth (Mosier) Shumake.

Shirley graduated from Rowe High School class 1947. Shirley spent four years in the Navy Reserves with the rank of HM2.

Shirley was a LPN at Brown Memorial Hospital retiring on February 28, 1993.

Shirley was sixty-year member of Order of Eastern Star #12, Kingsville and was part of the Eastern Star Clowns in which she was named Freckles. She also belonged to the former East Conneaut Methodist Church.  She enjoyed reading and puzzles.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews Tamara (Brian) Lehman, Timothy (Cathy) Shumake, John and Sally Shumake; sister-in-law, Helen Shumake; and great niece and nephew Abigail Newell and Theodore Lehman who assisted in her care. 

 She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Richard, J. Bernard, Edward Shumake and sister-in-law, Dorothy Shumake and cousin Marian Sundback.

Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 10:45 AM Saturday March 12, 2022 followed by a Memorial service at 11:00 AM at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, 44030.
