Siegfried Hugo Haase

Siegfried Hugo Haase, 93, of Kingsville and formerly of Conneaut passed away Thursday March 23, 2023 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.  He was born June 16,1929 in Stolp/Pommern, Germany, the son of late Otto and Martha (Kusch) Haase.

Siegfried came to the United States on December 29, 1955. He married Ruth (Boehmer) on January 26,1957 in Gordonsville, VA. 

In 1974, Siegfried's job transferred to Conneaut from Philadelphia, PA, where he retired from Crawford Container Company in 2001. He was a very skilled Machinist. In Germany, he was trained in the fabrication of industrial boilers for power plants and heavy industry. 

Siegfried was an avid gardener. He enjoyed taking walks and the art of Tai Chi. He enjoyed the visits, letters, and pictures he received from his family, whom he had so much pride in and enjoyed their many adventures and successes. 

Survivors include his children, Gerhard (Lisha) Haase, Timothy Haase, and Carol (Steve Miller) Hively-Miller; grandchildren, Jessica (Richard Metzger) Hively, Matthew Hively, Heidi (Drew) Smith, Esther (Ken) Jones, Emily (Greg) Ward, Nathan (Alicia) Haase, Heather, Kevin, and Thomas Haase, along with their mother Robin Haase; great-grandchildren, Summer, Caedon, Ian, Shiloh Smith, Charlotte Haase, Dakota, Lynette and Weston Jones. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; first wife, Ruth and second wife, June; and daughter Barbara Haase.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home and the Hospice of the Western Reserve for the care and comfort they provided to our father.

Funeral Service will be held 12:00 Noon Friday March 31, 2023 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, where family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service.

A burial will follow in City Cemetery, Conneaut.

The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League in honor of our father's love for animals.
