Stephen L. "Steve" Smith, Sr.

Stephen L. ”Steve” Smith, Sr., 79 of Conneaut passed away Saturday January 16, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born September 27, 1941 in Oak Hill, WVA. He was the son of Elmo & Virginia (Treadway) Smith.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 until his honorable discharge 1963.

Steve worked for P&C Dock Company, Exomet and retired from General Aluminum as plant superintendent.

He played music in several country bands spanning a 30 year career where he was considered one of the top lead guitar players in the county.  Steve also enjoyed golfing and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of fifty three years, Patricia (May) whom he married May 17, 1967 in Conneaut; children, Stephen Jr., , Deanna (Colin) Bird, Martin Smith, Jamie Burger, Patrick (Dolores) Smith & Virginia Smith; 25 grandchildren; and  26 great-grandchildren; siblings, Edward (Janet) Smith, Alvin Smith; daughter in law, Cheri Getce.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Shawn Michael Smith and great-grandson John Dominic Smith.

Private family service will be held at Marcy Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
