Thomas M. “Tom” Udell, 80, passed away unexpectedly Sunday December 11, 2022 at his home, after a long battle from lasting effects of Covid. He was born July 5, 1942 in Conneaut, the son of Donald and Marcine (Prendergast) Udell.
Tom was a 1961 graduate of Conneaut High School. After graduation, he enlisted into the U.S. Airforce where he proudly served his country from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1966.
He retired from Kimberly Clark in the late 1990’s as a supervisor.
Tom was a proud member of the American Legion Cowle Post #151 where he was currently Adjutant, took great pride being a member of the Honor Guard Squad, and had been a 12 year Past Commander.
Tom had a great love for the city of Conneaut and had once served as City Council President.
He was a member of the Conneaut Moose. Tom loved to golf, and enjoyed acting, doing shows at the Conneaut Art Center, Ashtabula Art Center, and Arlenes Broadway on Buffalo. Tom was loved by everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his daughters, Leah Robertson of MO, Tamlyn (Brent) Jones of AZ, Michelle (Erik) Mischlich of MO, and Tina Udell of CA; his sons, Danny (Nicole) Udell of AZ, Todd (Patricia) Udell of NV, and Randy (Michelle) Udell of NV; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Terry Wilson of Conneaut, Sharon Matchik of Conneaut, and Donna (Dick) Dibbs of Huron, OH; honorary daughter Megan Bailey of Conneaut; and several close friends, Legionnaires, nieces, nephews, and more distant cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley Udell; and his brother Bill Udell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the American Legion Cowle Post #151, 272 Broad St., Conneaut, OH 44030.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Tom’s memory to the American Legion Cowle Post #151. Envelopes will be available at the celebration of life and also at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
