Thomas "Tom" R. Sorenson

Thomas “Tom” R. Sorenson, 78, of Conneaut, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026 at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland, OH. He was born May 16,1948 in New Kensington, PA, the son of Newell Sorenson and Rolande “Elaine” (Pouchin) Foster.

Tom graduated from high school and enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an engineer for the Nickle Plate/Norfolk Southern Railroad.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including going to casinos, attending car shows, collecting cars, and in his younger years, building model cars. He loved taking golf cart rides with his great-granddaughter Aurora. Tom enjoyed his get-togethers with his railroad buddies.

 Above all, he cherished time spent with family, whether at gatherings or making memories with his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife Kathy (King) Sorenson, whom he married May 14, 1977; daughters Chelsea (Pat) Hakola of Painesville, and Sonja Sorenson of Conneaut; son Brett Sorenson of Conneaut; grandchildren Courtney, Tyler, Alexis, Olivia, Collin, Cole, and Callie; great-granddaughter Aurora; brother Robert “Bob” (Billie) Sorenson and half-brothers Bill (Missy) Sorenson, Clyde (Leeann) Sorenson, and Warren “Robbie” (Katrina) Sorenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather James Foster, and stepmother Evelyn Sorenson.

Celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be 1:00-4:00 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2026 at his sons home.

Contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which is honored to be entrusted with his arrangements.
