Timothy (Tim) David Hennessey, 72, passed away peacefully March 24, 2023 at his home from metastatic brain cancer.
Tim was born June 30, 1950 in Conneaut, Ohio. He was the son of Huebert (Berb) and Mildred (Millie) Hennessey.
A lifelong Conneaut resident, Tim graduated from Conneaut High School, class of 1969.
After graduation, Tim followed in his father's footsteps and began working for Great Lakes Towing Co. on the tugboats. He sailed the Great Lakes while working for U.S Steel Company, which provided many a tale to those who were closest to him. Tim later was employed with Norton Co. until their closing in 1975. Much of his work experience was with the former Emco-Wheaton, Inc. where he was elected Chief Union Steward. Ultimately, Tim retired in 2014 from General Aluminum Manufacturing Company after 24 years, holding various supervisory positions.
Tim had an incredible zest for life and made the most of everything. He enjoyed being outdoors, tinkering around the house and in his garage. He was always willing to help anyone in need, those he knew and strangers alike. In his spare time he mowed lawns for many of his neighbors and always kept his own yard in tip top shape. In the winter, it was not uncommon to see Tim snowblowing half the block and nearby driveways. He spent many mornings fishing for Lake Erie Perch and was known for his legendary Fish Fries. He was very meticulous when cleaning and filleting his catch, and rarely a single bone was ever left behind. He was a die-hard Cleveland sports and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Every year he wished to see the Browns win the Super Bowl. He played the lottery daily, holding out hope for that big payoff someday. Tim loved taking long drives with his family, especially in the fall season when the leaves were changing. He and his wife Shirley hosted the greatest summer picnics, where Tim happily assumed the title of Grillmaster. He enjoyed relaxing outside around a fire, listening to music of the 50's and 60's, and playing board games with his family where he won just about every game of Yahtzee. Tim really loved a good meal, and looked forward to home-cooked Sunday dinners with his wife, daughter and son-in-law. Tim also had a special fondness for Christmas time and buying gifts for those he loved. He was a wonderful husband, father, and human who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Meyers) with whom he would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on March 27th, an adoring daughter, Kristy (Mark) Belaney of Saybrook, brothers Michael and Terry Hennessey both of Conneaut and several nieces and nephews.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sandra Floyd and two nephews, Scott Hennessey and Andrew Floyd.
At Tim's request a private service will be held at Marcy Funeral Home in Conneaut. In lieu of flowers.
Memorial contributions can be made in Tim's Honor to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio.
