Viola Esther Beckwith, 94, of Conneaut, died March 20, 2020, at The Villa at the Lake Assisted Living Facility. Viola was born November 7, 1925 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Clyde G. Bishop and Ethel Gerwig Bishop. She was a 1943 graduate of Conneaut High School.
Viola worked at Stop and Shop, in the meat department for Charles Dickson in Conneaut, and Charlie Moses in Ashtabula for 40 years. Before that she worked with her husband at Dean Beckwith Feed and Supply in East Conneaut. All the while she was a housewife taking care of family and home. She was a past member of Salem Rebekah Lodge 385 and Eastern Star. An avid sports fan, she fervently followed the Cleveland Browns and Indians. In 1996 Viola retired to Florida until the death of her husband, Dean W. Beckwith in 2002, at which time she returned to Conneaut to enjoy family and friends on Lake Erie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dean Beckwith to whom she was married for 57 years; and seven siblings, brothers Earl, Paul, and George; sisters Naomi Bryant, Gladys Batchelor, her twin Vera Lemak, and Mary Conrad.
Viola is survived by her son David (Mary Lou) Beckwith of Pierpont; her daughter Janet (Edward Lapinskas) of Dade City, FL; 4 grand and step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

As per Viola’s wishes, no services will be held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH.
