William Clemens Obituary

William Dale Clemens, 96, of Conneaut passed away Wednesday October 5, 2022 at UH Geauga Medical Campus.  He was born December 13, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio the son of Samuel and Maud (Gilkey) Clemens.

William enlisted in the US Navy April 1, 1944, serving as a postal worker during WWII stationed in Pearl Harbor and San Francisco, after he was honorably discharged, he married Ida Mae McFadden on July 24, 1946 in Oakland, California.

 Following graduation from Lany Junior College in Oakland, CA, he was employed as a mill worker and cabinet maker in Alameda, CA.   William moved his family to Conneaut in July of 1957, after moving to Conneaut he went to work for Plycraft on April 24, 1959 retiring on December 18, 1987 after twenty-nine years of service.

He belonged to the East Conneaut Baptist Chapel where he served as a trustee and a greeter.  William was a former member of the American Legion Cowle Post #151.

He enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading, and working on sudoku, and jig saw puzzles.  

Survivors include his children, William G. (Suzette), David G. both of Conneaut, Charles D. Clemens of West Virginia, daughters, Wilma L. (Terry) Kern of Conneaut, Dora L. (Matthew) Hannold of North Kingsville; sister, Ida M. Gill of Pierpont; son-in-law, Kenneth Ramey, Sr.; sister-in-law, Jeanie (Robert) McFadden of Kingsville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida (McFadden) whom he married on July 24, 1946; brothers, Samuel, and Wesley Clemens, sisters, Ruth Calloway, Margaret Druggan; daughter, Rose Ramey; grandsons, Joshua Clemens, Kenneth Ramey, Jr.; great grandson, Cory Lewis, and daughter in law, Patricia Clemens.

Funeral service will be held 12 Noon Tuesday October 11, 2022 at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, with military honors conducted by American Legion Cowle Post #151.
