William "Bill" C. Nine

William “Bill” C. Nine, 87, was born October 6, 1934 to Charles and Ethel (Elbon) Nine in Lonaconing, MD.  Bill passed away peacefully on August 22, 2022, surrounded by family, after a nine-year battle of kidney failure.

Bill moved to Conneaut with his family in the early 50’s.  He worked for the Nickel-Plate railroad for a few years and then General Electric for 40+ years as a welder.

In his younger years, Bill enjoyed many pastimes including hunting, fishing, golf, bowling and pitching horseshoes.  He was an avid Cleveland sports fan.  Bill also spent many of his retirement years in Frostproof, FL during the winter with his wife Norma.

Bill was a long-time member of Lonestar/ Sheffield Grange.  He was also a longtime member of East Conneaut/ New Leaf United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir.  Bill graced many weddings with his smooth bassist voice.

Bill was known for his infectious laugh and good nature

He is survived by his two daughters, Denise (Dick) Wheeler and Tracy (Dave) Hamelin; his sisters Leona (John) Hall, Bonnie (Don) Toth, brother George (Susan) Nine; his grandchildren, Rachael, and Adam Nine, Sarah (Chris) Davis, Rebecca (Sean) Ansted, Kent (Katie) Wheeler, Megan (Jesse) Lardi, Abigail Moss and many great- grandchildren, daughter in law Chris Nine and sister in law, and Ruth Ann Campbell.  He is also survived by his loving companion Joy Kent.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma and sons Keith and Mark, brothers Leo and Charlie and his sisters Jennie and Betty Lee.

Visitation will be held Friday August 26, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday at the Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut and from Saturday August 27, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 AM  at New Leaf United Methodist Church, 110 Gateway Ave., Conneaut.

Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday August 27, 2022 at New Leaf United Methodist Church, 110 Gateway Ave., Conneaut.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.

The family would like to thank Davita Dialysis, Station 1 EMS, Conneaut Police Department and Conneaut UH emergency department for taking care of Bill.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New Leaf United Methodist Church or to the American Kidney Foundation.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
