William Wasson Obituary

William Clinton Wasson, 95 of North Kingsville, joined our heavenly father on Friday May 20, 2022 with family at his side.  Born in Meadville, Pennsylvania on December 12, 1926.  Bill learned strong work ethic and family values while working on a farm next to his father and two brothers as a child.  While attending Meadville High School, he enjoyed school athletics as he prepared for college.  Immediately following high school, he served in the US Army Air Force across Europe in 1945 near the end of WW II.  After returning from the military, he attended Penn State University.  Bill Eventually joined the IBEW and found himself working at the Viscose Plant in his hometown of Meadville where he met the Love of his life, Christine “Chris” who he ultimately shared 73 years of marriage with love and dedication.  Work opportunities and the love of Lake Erie led them to settle in the Conneaut/North Kingsville area in the 1950’s where they would spend the rest of their lives.  After several years as an industrial electrical contractor and working at several distant and local industries in Ashtabula, he settled into an electrical and I&C supervisor position at Cabot Titanium (Millennium/Crystal/Ineos) until he retired and enjoyed over 30 years of retirement. Bill enjoyed picnics, camping, and fishing with his family and friends.  Bill enjoyed many cross county motorcycle trips and a lifetime of jogging and walking for fitness.  Bill started a Christmas tree farm where he met and enjoyed the company and stories of many local residents and neighbors.  During the winter months Bill, with Christine always at his side, wintered in Ft. Myers, Florida where he became an accomplished shuffleboard competitor.  Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church, Evergreen Lodge #222 of Free and Accepted Masons and the American Legion for over 50 years each.  Bill also enjoyed golf, playing cards, bowling, and working with area youth as a baseball umpire and Scout Leader.  Bill had absolute love of his country and especially for God and family.  Bill was preceded in death by his father Stanley and mother Malvena, his brothers, Jack and Lorance “Bud” a sister Evelyn and a brother-in-law Stearle “Butch”.  Bill is survived by his wife Christine “Chris” Gunsallus Wasson; a son William S. Wasson of North Kingsville and a daughter Linda Wasson Biscup of Vermillion.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lori (Rick) Taylor of Windsor, Sean (Laurie) Wasson of Kingsville, Matt (Laura) Wasson of Cincinnati and Jessica (Zvonimir) Perkovic of West Park.   Bill also had 9 great grandchildren, Samantha, Rachael, Jacob, Jordan, Madalyn, Blake, Anya, Luke, and Mila.  Private family service was held at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio 44030.  Burial took place in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville with military honors conducted by American Legion Cowle Post #151.  Memorial Contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church, 370 State St., Conneaut.  www.marcyfuneralhome.com
